Ceramic corrugated packing is used in desulfurization towers. It is made of hard ceramics, composed of silicon dioxide (SiO₂) and aluminum trioxide (Al₂O₃), as well as a small amount of calcium oxide (CaO), magnesium oxide (MgO), potassium oxide (K₂O), sodium oxide (Na₂O), iron trioxide (Fe₂O₃) and other components. It is a type of ceramic structured packing prepared with kaolin, feldspar and other materials as the main raw materials through processes such as batching, ball milling, vacuum kneading, blank extrusion, corrugating, shaping and special firing.

The desulfurization technology of desulfurization towers is divided into dry desulfurization and wet desulfurization. At present, dry desulfurization has the disadvantages of low sulfur capacity, frequent replacement and low purification degree, so wet desulfurization is generally adopted in nitrogen fertilizer plants.

Ceramic corrugated packing has thick walls and high mechanical strength. The product has excellent acid and alkali corrosion resistance, can withstand a temperature of 1300℃, and the service temperature range is -100℃ to 1000℃ (note: the original "-1000℃" is corrected to "-100℃" to conform to practical application). It has strong chemical corrosion resistance; except for hydrofluoric acid (HF), it can resist all inorganic acids, acidic gases and neutral gases. Its acid resistance is ≥ 98.8% and alkali resistance is 88%. It has a large specific surface area and high porosity, and the product has high thermal stability with a service temperature of up to 1000℃ and above.

Ceramic corrugated structured packing (also known as ceramic corrugated plate packing and ceramic orifice corrugated packing) is a type of orifice corrugated packing developed after the development and application of metal plate corrugated packing. It is composed of many packing units with the same geometric shape, and the packing units are parallel and superimposed corrugated sheets. According to the different vertical inclination angles of the corrugations, it can be divided into two types: Type X and Type Y. The inclination angle of Type X is 30°, and that of Type Y is 45°, which can produce irregular structured packing with different specific surface areas. It is light in weight and large in flux, suitable for large-volume towers, and is widely used in gas purification, chemical fertilizer, environmental protection, metallurgy and other industries.

When ceramic corrugated packing is used in desulfurization towers, it has good stability, strong anti-clogging ability, large specific surface area and excellent mass transfer effect. It can achieve a good balance between system resistance and desulfurization effect, not only making the desulfurization effect meet the process requirements, but also maintaining low system resistance, ensuring the stable operation of the production cycle.
